You Hold The Key To My Heart

Hi all!
I guess I do owe all of you an apology. It's not that I abandoned this, I just needed some time settling into my job and for those who know me, I'm very bad at multi-tasking. >.< I hope you all understand. *bows head.

Back to sewing!

I'm starting a series of 4 to 5 bags now. It's part of my grand plan to have my bags organized. If you're like me - I have a thing for bags - I always forget things when I change bags. And sometimes I don't want to carry all my things with me so I end up having my wallet and handphone on my hands and I forget my keys and tissues. -.-

So back to my grand plan. I plan to make pouches for all things nicely organized. Here's the first and most important one - my key pouch.

I know I made one already. But as you all know, it's utterly useless. But as long as I'm ready to admit that, I am ready to change. Here's the newly improved version!

Photobucket

It's a heart with two slits for 2 pairs of keys. If you're like me, you will need a big heart to keep the keycard as well. I wanted something different; not the regular rectangular-shaped ones.

Here's what you need:
4 pieces of fabric (any pattern)
elastic string / band
3 tags (or you can make them with fabric
2 buttons

Here's how to make it. As usual, with visual effects for easy understanding.

First, fold a paper into half and cut out a symmetrical heart.
Make sure they are big, or small, enough for your keys.

Next, cut out 4 pieces of fabric in heart shapes.

Then, temporarily sew them together. This is just to hold the pieces together.
Sew 2 by 2.
When they are in place, sew on 2 tags as shown in the picture.
You can see from the picture how the pieces are being held together loosely.

Next, draw two lines on the top piece to cut as the opening.

Now, use the blanket stitch to sew up the corners of the slits.
Once you're done with that, you can sew on the elastic bands on both the slits.

Then, blanket-stitch the top piece onto the bottom piece.
Finally, sew on the tag at the corner of your heart, and the two buttons on the slits.

All that is left is for you to put your keys in and you're done! :) That was so fun and satisfying! Another craft well done! *jumps with joy

It can even be a very romantic gift. :)
