Flat-Bottom Monkeytrain Pouch

I was accompanying lao gong do his work in burger king at Pasir Ris one weekend and I needed to find something to do. So I popped into Cheers to look for activity books and I found Britain's No. 1 Cross Stitcher magazine issue no. 217! The best thing about this issue is that is comes with some exclusives:

14 count white aida (the cross stitch cloth)
23 lengths of thread
1 tapestry needle
seaside charms

Every thing I need to start stitching! What's best is I could use other designs provided in the magazine! So I picked the cute alphabetical ones with cute pictures.
What a great way to sew away the day at burger king while lao gong does his work. :) ah.......

So I decided to sew my cross stitch onto a flat-bottom pouch!

sew

Here's the list of things you need:

sew

Let's begin!

First, complete your cross stitch.
Then, sew it onto your outside cloth.

(Don't worry if in the picture it looks as though I have missed a few steps. I just forgot to take a picture of my cross stitch before sewing it onto the cloths.)

Now, place the zipper in between the inside and outside cloths like this:

Then sew.

It should look like this.

Next, place the inside cloths and outside cloths together so that their fronts are facing each other.
sew

Sew all around the perimeter of the pouch but remember to leave a small opening at the bottom of the inside cloth so that you can turn the pouch inside out.

Now, draw squares on the four corners of the pouch. Draw both front and back (that means you have to draw them 8 times).
sew
This is to created the flat bottom.

Next, fold the corners according to the squares that you have just drawn, making sure that the tip (90 degree point) of the squares is the corner of your fold.
sew

Sew along the lines then cut the excess part off.
sew
Do this for all four corners.

Now, turn the inside cloth over the outside pouch through the opening and then sew close the opening.

Unzip the pouch and turn it the right way round.

And now, ta da! That's how you make a flat bottom pouch interesting!
